Fairgreen Assisted Living is a DREAM COME TRUE. The dream began 25 years ago by a young women from the Philippines with nothing more, then dreams back then. Moving from her home land to England where she began her nursing education, and career. She excelled and kept on dreaming. Beginning as a trained operating room nurse, Sue had the opportunity to work with a well known Heart Surgeon in London, England. The education and experience she gained was priceless. The dream continued as an opportunity to move to America presented itself. In the USA Sue continued her Nursing studies and became licensed as a Registered Nurse.
The new position in the U.S. brought Sue a chance to work with the first Ophthalmologist in New York who invented Phaco cataract surgery. This began the bond with the elderly.
Moving to Florida and researching her first love of elderly care she began an adventure that moved the dream closer to reality. Sue Haresco opened her first Assisted Living Facility in 1993, and then another in 1998, Regency Elderly Care on Mango Tree Drive. Both of these facilities were small in nature, but excelled in cleanliness and care for the elderly. Still clutching that dream of one day opening a larger facility with all the appointments necessary to accommodate a larger and yet more perfect community setting, something extraordinary happened. Sue met a Retired Military Officer and fell in love. Vern shared and understood Sue’s dream, made her Mrs. Kepler, and began a long process of designing a building that not only satisfied the needs of the elderly but would offer a new model in Care, Activities, and the support services required to bring the whole project to fruition.
A Dream that was long in coming, was now being designed and redesigned, and scratched out on many yellow tablets, but it was closer now than ever before. The fear of investing that kind of money and taking on that much more responsibility at middle age would be enough to make the normal dreamer stop, but Sue and Vern pushed on.
The City of New Smyrna Beach was submitted the plans for approval and in early 2005 the lot on Halleck and Wayne Avenue was being cleared, so the dream could come to life. Eighteen months passed as the building went through many changes, delay’s in construction, agency restrictions and do over’s that would of stopped most projects. Sue and Vern kept steady and pushed forward as a team, destined to complete, and offer this dream to the Seniors in our community.
Now in the Summer of 2007 Fairgreen is a Dream Come True, ready to open and introduce seniors to a new concept in Assisted Living. Sue and Vern with their own visions are ready to bring a life time of dreams to reality. Fairgreen Assisted Living WELCOMES all of you to come and see this new building and wrap your heart around a new model for our seniors.
The facility will host a 40 bed license, sponsor a Adult Day program, offer activities that we all would want to attend, and most of all bring a quality of life to our Moms & Dads, Grand Parents, Great Aunt’s and Uncles that we all can be proud to refer to as their very own community and home.
